2018 term 3: week 5: CSS

Web design students have been working on mastering a variety of HTML elements, and combining them into small web page projects.  Now that we know how to put together a simple web site, we will start learning CSS.  CSS will allow us to create consistent pages in our sites with ease.

2018 term 3: week 4: web graphics

Students taking Web 1 and NPHS will be working with graphic editing, and optimizing images for use on web pages.  We will then learn a wide variety of ways to incorporate images into our pages.  By the end of the week, students should be able to have some fundamentals to start putting together the start to a nice looking web page.

2018 term 3: week 3: Design Elements

Web 1 students have registered for dual credit for this course, and we have finished with our first basic web page using html.  As we learn more, we will continue to build more advanced pages throughout the term.  We finished week 2 with a quiz over our assigned readings, and will wrap up a few things then will be ready for next week!  Week 3 will involve looking at page layouts, planning layouts, and using html to have our elements fit a variety of grids.  The class is doing a lot of good work, and I'm excited to see how everyone keeps improving their skills!

2018 term 3: week 2: Our First Web Page

This week is our first full week back to class.  We have talked about some industry-related terminology and concepts, and are ready to start designing our first web pages.  We will have a representative from MPCC visit with the class about dual credit opportunities for this course.  We will then discuss things to look for in effective web sites, w will install our text editor, and learn the basics of html and how to set up a web site.  Things are really starting to pick up in this course, and I'm excited to see what we create!

2018 term 3: week 1: Introduction to Web Design

Welcome back from Holiday Break!  Term 3 we will be getting started with our web 1 class at NPHS.  We will be emphasizing an introduction to web design, and a lot of HTML and CSS in this course.  We will start off looking at our programs of study that students can be working towards while learning information in this class, and getting to know each other.  Next, we will start learning some of the important terms and concepts related to careers in web design.  This course is also offered for dual credit, so we will discuss those possibilities and steps that need to be taken for registration.  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone this week!
